The Guwahati College Mountaineering Club of which Dhrubajyoti Rajbangshi, Department of Geography is the secretary has successfully completed a number of expeditions, trekking and rock climbing camps with the interested students from the College within and outside the state in the year 2014. Those were - Trekking in Darjeeling in the month of February, expedition in Sikkim (Chandacphu) in October, camp including rafting in Marigaon district, several rock climbing camps and training by the students in association with Assam Rock Climbing Association at Basistha, State Zoo, Kahilipara 4th APBN. The students also participated in the 16th North East Zonal Sports Climbing Competition in 4th APBN Kahilipara, Guwahati from 30th October to 1st November 2014

Mr. Tarun Saikia, Ex-student of Guwahati College is the first Assamese to create history by becoming the first person from Assam to scale the world's highest summit Mount Everest on June 05, 2013.

Moreover, he is at present the honourary adviser of Guwahati College Mountaineering Club
