LIBRARY
Overview

Guwahati College Library was established with the establishment of the College in the year 1964. S. P. Bhattacharya, retired professor of the department of Bengali of the College was the In-Charge Librarian till qualified librarian Nagen Talukdar joined the service in 1976. The Library has very good collection of textbooks, reference books, journals, popular journals etc and cater to the needs of the readers. The modern library services and facilities have been progressively implemented to keep track with the changing scenario of library services.

NList Programme:
Guwahati College Library has registered in NList Programme of Inflibnet in January,2011. Permanent ID and password have already been received for 57 faculty members and have been successfully used by the members. Nlist programme provides full text journal service for more than 3000 journals and also more than 80000 e books can be accessed free of cost.
Internet Service:
BSNL Broadband connection is available to access internet resources. At present 5 computer terminals are available for internet service in the College library.
Bar-coding of Books:
Barcode label Printer has been used for bar-coding of books and will be helpful in circulation subsystem of the Library.

Vision:
Complete Library Automation has been planned with the installation Inflibnet (Ahmedabad) Developed SOUL Software. Barcode Label Printer will be used for circulation purpose. It is planned to initiate digital section in the library housed with digital resources both online and offline. In view of changing scenario of education system it is planned to improve the infrastructure facility of the Library.
